An honored guest

Today I visited Chateau de l’Aiguillette for the first time. This wonderful winery produces our Muscadet Sèvre et Maine and our Muscadet Vieilles Vignes. The visit was more unusual than others, because of the fact that my hosts didn’t speak a word of English, and you could make an argument that I really don’t speak a word of French. Without anyone to help translate, we had to resort to different approaches to communicate. The picture highlights one of those methods. I think it would be easy and fair to say that much went not being understood, but what wasn’t lost in the translation was the passion and joy that my hosts have for making wine, and the quality of those wines. Vincent’s enthusiasm in having me taste his wines, many still in tanks, reminded me of when my oldest son was little and guests would come over to our house. During the course of those visits, Galen would manage to bring out all of his favorite toys to share the joys of his life with our guests. Today I was such a honored guest.
